“Politics of Land and Conservation” explores how struggles over land and conservation are deeply shaped by South Africa’s past. It reveals how conservation is not only driven by science and good intentions, but also by politics, power, and contested histories – highlighting the importance of involving those most affected by protected areas in shaping more just and sustainable futures.

Ndidzulafhi Innocent Sinthumule is Associate Professor of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Johannesburg. His research interests are on transfrontier conservation area, conservation and society, human-environment relationships, land reform, border studies and traditional ecological knowledge.
