A new online exhibition by the Smithsonian Museum of African Art presents exceptional insights into the lives of maritime communities in South-East Africa.

Sailors and Daughter is an online exhibition tracing the origins of expansive maritime societies in the Indian ocean through photographic evidence. Starting in 1840, the viewer is asked to virtually walk through seven geographical station, ranging from Oman, to Madagascar and Zanzibar.
