Exhibition: Kader Attia. Remembering the Future
The exhibition shows sculptures, photos, videos and installations by the Franco-Algerian artist Kader Attia. It is Kader Attia's first exhibition in German-speaking Switzerland. It revolves around the colonial past of Europe and its consequences.
In a new video installation created for the Kunsthaus Zürich, Attia addresses the currently much-discussed question of the "restitution" of non-Western, especially African artifacts. The work is an attempt to approach this complex issue. Historians, philosophers, activists, psychoanalysts and economists have their say. Without blame, Kader Attia brings together the different points of view with the aim of enabling a differentiated examination of the topic. The history of Switzerland and its collections flows into the complex film and brings to light exciting new insights.
