Konzert: Tamikrest
The story of Tamikrest begins in 2006 in a village in Mali, when Cheikh Ag Tiglia and Ousmane Ag Mossa decide to form a band after a guitar workshop. A lot has happened since then: Tamikrest have been featured in countless best lists of renowned music magazines worldwide, climbed to No. 1 in the European World Music Charts with Chatma, stormed international stages and thrilled fans all over the world. In the Tamasheq language, Tamikrest means "node" or "connection". Thus, the 5-member formation comes from different regions of the world and although their music is rooted in Ishumar rock and Tuareg blues, they have emancipated themselves with an interpretation all their own. Traditional Tuareg rhythms and melodies join influences from blues, psych and rock, as with their idols from Tinariwen, while the lyrics negotiate the longing for a free world. In 2020, they released Tamotäit, their sixth album on Glitterbeat, which comes with an unbridled rock'n'roll statement and again shows that the centre of innovative rock music is no longer just in Europe or the USA. At their first concert at Kaserne, the exquisite live band will present the new material.
