Macarena Gómez-Barris: At the Sea’s Edge: Non-Extractive Architectures
In this talk, Macarena Gómez-Barris will discuss new work from her forthcoming book Sea Edges: Beyond Extinction and Coloniality (Duke University Press) to consider not only geographies of extraction, but also spaces, imaginaries, and artistic inquiry and expression that creates otherwise. The work of Indigenous and Africana artists and thinkers informs her approaches to the urgent need for non-extractive approaches to social, earth, and living being.
