Online Exhibition: Womanifesto
Womanifesto repositions and contributes to the conceptual canon that wishes to manifest space for: divergence, contradiction, the godly and the unholy, the peaceful, silly, romantic, the champion and un-surviving. As these layers are revealed spectators are introduced to a reality of hybrid experiences and relationships that surpass the historical placement and sum of our individual or collective traumas. Through the lens of the exhibiting artists, the curators aim to bring to the forefront a multitude of the rich inter/intra generational connections and stories that lend to the documentation of the African feminine horology. Poised to not merely reject the one-dimensional narratives around femme’hood, but to also add to a visual archive that engages with the pivotal role of sharing intersectional artistic experiences of femme creators from the continent and diaspora.
Curated by Courtney Koopman and Keabetswe Boccomino, Womanifesto features 14 works by six female artists from Africa and the Diaspora.
